Anche quest'anno la Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America (SFWA) ha stilato i nomi dei candidati al premio Nebula, il prestigioso riconoscimento che dal 1966 premia e dedica attenzione alle produzioni Sci-Fi internazionali. 

Con una lunga lista di illustri vincitori nelle edizioni precedenti (Frank Herbert, Ursula K. Le Guin, Isaac Asimov, Arthur C. Clarke e William Gibson), il Nebula continua ad essere uno dei premi più importanti e soprattutto ambiti dagli autori. 

Per questa edizione (relativa alle produzioni pubblicate lo scorso anno), spicca ancora una volta il nome di Neil Gaiman nella categoria romanzi, già vincitore di un Nebula nel 2003 con il romanzo Coraline; questa volta lo scrittore britannico compete con The Ocean at the End of the Line (L'Oceano in Fondo al Sentiero). 

Tra i nominati anche Helene Wecker con i suo acclamato The Golem and the Jinni. Sempre nella categoria scrittura troviamo Alaya Johnson Alba con ben due nomination, una per le "novelette" (produzione in prosa più lunga di una short story ma più corta rispetto a una novel. N.d.R) con They Shall Salt the Earth with Seeds of Glass e l'altra per il romanzo per adulti The Summer Price

Nella categoria cinema e tv c'è il sempre Ray Bradbury Award. I nomi illustri di quest'anno sono quelli di Alfonso Cuarón con il suo Gravity, Pacific Rim di Guillermo del Toro e uno degli sceneggiatori più acclamati del momento, Steven Moffat, che partecipa con The Day of the Doctor, l'episodio speciale dedicato ai 50 anni del serial Doctor Who

I premi saranno consegnati durante il Nebula Awards Weekend, dal 15 al 18 maggio a San Jose, California. Le votazioni dei membri della SFWA si apriranno il 1° marzo e finiranno il 30 dello stesso mese.
