Tralasciando paragoni con Narnia, mi sembra difficile deprecare DL se rapportata alla Ruota del Tempo. La storia, per carità puo' piacere agli uni e non agli altri perché i gusti sono gusti, ma secondo me la tesi che DL sia "inferiore" o "commerciale" é insostenibile, se il paragone é una saga come Wheel of Time. Infatti trattasi di una massa mostruosa di pagine (oltre diecimila, mi pare) suddivisa in un bel numero di libri (1 ogni mille, mi pare), strutturati in maniera molto simile (li ho letti anche io, desolé) in cui i "buoni" viaggiano e combattono osservando una profezia ben nota compiersi a poco a poco, e in cui in media un cattivone viene fatto secco ogni volta. Ora, mi pare che questo impianto da parte di uno scrittore sia molto, ma molto piu' commerciale (allunghiamo la storia, mettiamone 45, di Reietti...) dell'impiando proposto da DL... Poi per carità, potete dire che "DL é vecchio e WoT é nuovo", ma se il "nuovo" é di questo livello... Laughing

facessi lo sforzo di leggere e capire
ciò che leggi, eviteresti di fare certe uscite...

incontrano cattivi... perchè stai sbagliando rece caro mio...

DL non è brutto perchè è vecchio, ISDA, e Conan docet.

DL è brutto perchè è scritto male, è stato scritto per poter vendere
dei giochi (per carità anche piacevoli i gdr, sono un appasionato),
e hanno sfornato non migliaia ma MILIONI di pagine!

Che poi tra Cronache e Leggende qualcosa di interessante sia saltato
fuori non lo nego.

Ma W&H se hanno scritto qualcosa di buono, non è certo DL, ma bensì,
DeathGate e La Spada Nera.


p.s. per quanto riguarda la storia Raistlin sceglie il male, per la magia...
ecc ecc.. la verità (leggasi soulfourge o come si chiama) è questa:
una tipa non gliela smolla e preferisce il fratello belloccio e aitante,
e preso dalla disperazione si chiude in se stesso e vive solo per la magia....
La rivincita dei Nerds ha una trama migliore...

Per quanto disquisito fin qui, state sfondando una porta aperta. Tutto quanto c'è di DL NON scritto da Weiss & Hickmann è, salvo rare eccezioni, monnezza.

Quanto alla WOT non l'ho letta visto che leggo solo saghe già pubblicate per intero (o che comunque sembrano tali, per evitare di essere tacciato che DL non è così) quindi non posso fare il confronto ma fino a oggi DL e LOTR sono in testa alla mia personale classifica, seguiti a ruota da Amber e da Deathgate (che però non ho ancora finito di leggere).

ps: Darkswork a me non dice niente, è relegato nell'elenco dei libri decenti ma nulla più.

Sicuramente, ma parte della discrepanza riguardo il ruolo dei malvagi è data dallo scopo delle due opere.

Quoto integralmente Palin e Diable Noir, e quando mi riferivo a DL parlavo esclusivamente di Cronache e Leggende.

Le Cronache di DL sono un libro carino, niente piu', che ha il merito di far conoscere personaggi che poi diverranno protagonisti di storie piu' grandi. Le Leggende, ovvero la Trilogia dei Gemelli, sono la vera storia per cui vale la pena di incensare DL. Tutto o quasi quanto é stato scritto dopo (eccezion fatta, forse per "La Leggenda di Huma") non é di un livello accettabile. Ma la vera storia che era nella mente di W&H é quella descritta nelle leggende.

Inoltre, Raistlin in sé é un personaggio straordinario e complesso, e non c'é traduzione (che, per carità, poteva essere assai meglio) o storia che tenga. Lui vuole il potere con tutto il suo essere, e giunge ad averlo a prezzo del sangue e dell'anima. C'é una bella differenza con Saruman: Raistlin é dotato dalla natura di un corpo debole, ulteriormente squassato dalle Prove di Wayreth. Invece Saruman é un Maia, parte da ben altro livello, eppure cade nel fango.

Queste frasi - che ti classificano come un maleducato - te le tieni per te. Non ho bisogno di giustificare cosa ho letto e cosa no, ma per tua norma e regola di fantasy ne ho letta tanta, e - udite, udite, temo di averla capita. DL non rappresenta l'unico orizzonte del fantasy che conosco, bensi' vi ho pescato per scegliere alcuni personaggi per questo gioco. Come dicevo, ne ho letto un po', dunque credo di avere il diritto dire che alcuni romanzi di alcune saghe mi piacciono da morire, mentre altri non mi piacciono per niente. WoT rientra in quest'ultima categoria come in quella delle saghe super-commerciali; peggio, la ritengo noiosa, ripetitiva, mal scritta. Ma tendenzialmente, a differenza di te, non ritengo incompetenti coloro che hanno un'opinione diversa, né penso che non capiscano quello che leggono.
