Per l'edizione numero tredici delle nominations agli MTV Movie Awards La maledizione della prima luna fa man bassa con ben sei segnalazioni. Quattro per X-Men 2 e solo due per Il Ritorno del Re, che sazio dei premi già assegnati, si accontenta della corsa per il miglior film e la miglior sequenza d'azione (la battaglia per Gondor).
A fianco delle tradizionali categorie sempre presenti in un concorso cinematografico, spiccano alcune curiose sezioni come la miglior squadra sullo schermo, il miglior cattivo e il miglior bacio.
La cerimonia di premiazione è prevista per il 10 giugno 2004 e sarà trasmessa dalle reti MTV.
